Do I really need 150 minutes of Cardio a week?

Yes, according to the American Heart Association this is what healthy adults should strive for each week. Although I do think it is important to strive for 150 minutes of Cardio exercise a week this is not always obtainable.    Setting a goal of 150 minutes of Cardio is a good average goal to keep the heart healthy. Often TIME is the most challenging variable, for some it is finding an exercise they enjoy doing.  The time part is hard but can be achieved with proper planning.  Even going for a quick 10 minute brisk walk counts while waiting in between kids pick up from practice.  The other part is finding something you enjoy doing…if you don’t like to run  don’t force yourself to go out for a run. Exercise comes in many forms, for example dancing, swimming, biking, hiking, walking, martial arts, etc. The heart is a muscle and needs  exercise as well to promote adequate blood flow for your entire body. Everywhere you read someone is telling you to lift weights…yes this is important but don’t forget your cardio.
